About us

Underneath The Makeup was born from a very personal place — my own hair loss journey. After experiencing severe stress and hormonal changes, my hair began to suffer in ways I never expected. My edges disappeared. My hair started breaking near the crown. In what felt like no time, I went from shoulder length to neck length — and nothing I tried from the store shelves seemed to help. My hair was dry, brittle, and continued to break. So I decided to take matters into my own hands. I began studying herbs, natural oils, and their traditional uses and benefits for hair care alongside an herbalist. After months of trial, error, and dedication, I created my first set of products — made with infused herbs and organic oils. As I became more consistent with caring for my hair and using the products I created, I began noticing changes. My hair felt healthier and stronger, I experienced less breakage, and over time I started seeing progress with my edges and length. I began sharing my products with family and friends, and their positive experiences encouraged me to keep going. That's when I realized what started as something personal could become something much bigger. Underneath The Makeup was created for anyone who has ever felt less than because of what they saw in the mirror.
